The term ‘Beatitudes’ is given to part of Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount, specifically the part in Matthew 5:1-12. It comes from the Latin word for ‘blessed’. In these verses Jesus reveals eight blessings that the people of His heavenly kingdom can expect to receive, both in this life and in the future - when His kingdom comes in its fullness.
