This week I saw two faces
One made me sad, the other glad.
One so sweet and dripping honey
Perfect teeth and smiling roundly.
The other taut in painful agony
Honest struggling with humanity.
Which one made God glad?
This week I heard two voices
One made me sad, the other glad.
One so smooth with polished care
Spirit-type words with blessings to share.
The other raw with plaintive prayer
Honest words while others stare.
Which one made God glad?
This week I saw two hearts.
One made me sad, the other glad.
One self-deceived, no hint of shame
At ease when all men bless his name.
The other soft to hurt again
And bear the cross, despite the pain.
Which one made God glad?
